Originally located in downtown Kansas City, the Kansas City Gift Mart opened in 1965 as a wholesale "Gift, Gourmet and Design Resource" for retail businesses. Due to the Mart's growth and expansion requirements, the Mart re-located in 1986 to its current location in Overland Park, Kansas, a booming up-scale community located only 20 minutes from the city center. The current facility, housing over 250,000 square feet of showroom space and a 70,000 square foot exhibition hall, has allowed the Mart to expand to over 80 permanent showrooms, thousands of lines of merchandise and more than 350 additional temporary exhibits during its five annual markets.

To celebrate 40 years as the nation's most centrally-located, conveniently-accessible premier gift mart in the country, the Kansas City Gift Mart is debuting as MidAmerica's Mart in 2005.
